Out of hours is regular hours for Uplink. We cover weekday evenings and weekends at Equinix LD4 in Slough, so a late maintenance window fits the way we work.

Our LD4 attendance target is within 40 minutes. We confirm the engineer's availability and ETA when you contact us, then work to the access window and scope you approve. Arrival at the facility and permission to work at your rack are separate parts of the booking.

A working window that fits your change calendar

Infrastructure teams often schedule physical work after the weekday workload falls or during a weekend change window. A remote team may still be online, but someone needs to stand beside the server, identify the right port or fit the replacement part. Uplink supplies that onsite cover for customer-owned equipment at LD4.

Tell us the window you need, including the date and local UK time. We can plan an evening installation, a Saturday hardware visit or a Sunday cable job around a named change owner. We confirm each booking individually; evening and weekend cover does not mean that every overnight slot is automatically staffed.

What the 40-minute target covers

The target concerns engineer attendance at LD4, not the time needed to repair a server. A visit can involve a quick physical check or several hours of work depending on the fault, the available parts and the tests your remote team needs. We agree the task and confirm the travel estimate before dispatch.

For urgent work, call with the facility code, rack reference and symptom. Tell us whether a spare is already onsite and whether the visitor booking is ready. That lets us give you an attendance answer based on the actual job rather than a postcode alone. Traffic and existing bookings can affect the ETA.

Confirm LD4 and arrange customer access

Equinix LD4 is at 2 Buckingham Avenue, Slough Trading Estate, Slough, SL1 4NB. Put LD4 on the request; other Equinix buildings in Slough use different facility codes and addresses.

Your authorised contact arranges the work visit for the named Uplink engineer and the correct customer space. Send us the visit reference and approved time window before travel. Equinix's visitor process requires suitable identification; its current portal and site rules control entry.

If the visit needs photographs for a change record, request recording permission in advance. A work ticket alone does not give unrestricted permission to photograph the data hall or neighbouring equipment. Agree a written handover where photographs are not permitted.

Book the physical task you actually need

Remote hands can cover a directed inspection, checking a labelled connection or carrying out a specifically approved part swap. A job that needs hardware diagnosis or judgement at the rack needs an engineer brief that describes the symptoms and the decisions the engineer may make.

Uplink can provide server installation, rack and stack, customer-side cabling, hardware checks and approved component replacement. Send an equipment list, part numbers, asset labels and the expected end state. If you need a new operator cross-connect or a change to facility infrastructure, arrange that through Equinix rather than including it as an assumed rack task.

Keep the approval contact available

The person who can approve a production change should answer during the visit. A daytime number that goes to voicemail on Saturday is not a usable escalation path. Name a primary contact and a backup, with the point at which the engineer must stop and call.

We agree the permitted actions before attendance. If the equipment or cabling does not match the work order, the engineer reports the difference and waits for a decision. Record parts fitted, checks completed and any unresolved issue at handover so your next shift can pick up the work.

Independent engineering, with the quote agreed first

Uplink is independent of Equinix. We provide engineering for your equipment; Equinix controls the facility and its access process. If an Equinix technician already has the right task and can complete it within your window, use that route rather than booking a duplicate visit.

Regular working hours describes our scheduling. It is not a promise of a particular rate, free travel or a fixed repair price. Ask us to confirm scope, attendance, waiting time and parts handling in the quote. For an urgent LD4 visit, call +44 7425 571454; for planned work, use the engineer request form with your change window.
